Cookie Policy

Last updated: 16 October 2026

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your device when you visit. They help a site remember who you are, keep you logged in and understand how it’s being used. We also use similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage, which work in much the same way. In this policy, “cookies” means all of them.

2. Who we are

Greet is run by GreetWorld Ltd. This policy explains which cookies the Greet website and community use and the choices you have. It should be read with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data.

3. The cookies we use

Strictly necessary cookies

These make the site work, and you can’t switch them off. They keep you logged in, protect your account and remember your cookie choices. We don’t need your consent for these.

  • Log-in and account cookies (for example wordpress_logged_in_*, wordpress_sec_*, wp-settings-*): keep you signed in and remember your account settings. They last for your visit, or up to 14 days if you stay logged in, and wp-settings-* lasts up to a year.
  • Community cookies (set by our community software): support features such as your profile, groups and activity feed while you’re logged in.
  • Security cookies (for example those set by Wordfence): help us spot and block suspicious activity and keep the site secure.
  • Cookie-choice record (greet_consent): remembers what you chose in our cookie banner, so we don’t keep asking. It lasts 180 days.
  • Payment cookies (Stripe): if you buy from us, Stripe sets cookies (__stripe_mid, __stripe_sid) to process payments securely and prevent fraud.

Preference cookies

These remember choices you make so the site works the way you like. We only set them when you do something, such as closing a pop-up or picking a language.

  • Language: remembers the language you pick with the globe icon in our header, so pages stay translated as you browse. This is set by our translation tool, GTranslate (googtrans), and usually lasts for your visit.
  • Sign-up pop-up (greet_slidein_until, stored in your browser’s local storage): remembers that you closed our “join the waitlist” pop-up, or that you joined, so we don’t show it again straight away. It lasts 14 days if you close it and 180 days if you join.

Analytics cookies

These tell us how people use Greet, such as which pages are popular and where visitors come from, so we can improve the site. We only use them if you accept them.

  • Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*): collects anonymous information about pages visited, time on site and device type. These cookies last up to two years.

Marketing and affiliate cookies

These are used to show you relevant offers and to track when a link on Greet leads to a booking with one of our partners. We only use them if you accept them.

  • Travel partners (Travelpayouts and the companies it connects us to): when you click a link to book a hotel, flight, tour or other travel product, our partner may set a cookie on their own site so they know the booking came from Greet. We earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
  • Push notifications (PushEngage): if you choose to allow notifications from Greet, this service stores a setting in your browser so we can send them. You can turn notifications off at any time in your browser settings.

4. Your choices

When you first visit Greet, a banner lets you Reject all, Accept all or Customise the cookies that aren’t strictly necessary. Rejecting is as easy as accepting, and we won’t set analytics or marketing cookies unless you say yes.

You can change your mind at any time. Click Cookie settings here, or in the footer of any page, to open your choices again.

You can also control cookies in your browser. Most browsers let you block or delete them. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of Greet, such as logging in, won’t work. For step-by-step instructions, visit aboutcookies.org.

If you turn off analytics or marketing cookies, you’ll still be able to use all of Greet.

5. Cookies from other companies

Some cookies are set by companies other than us, such as Google, Stripe and our travel partners. These companies decide how their cookies work, and their own privacy policies explain how they use your data. We don’t control them.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy, for example if we start using a new tool. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. If we make a significant change, we’ll tell you on the site.
